What’s in a Gift?

If you’re looking for gifts for your life partner this Valentine’s Day, well, you’re a bit late to the game (though don’t most people wait until the week of to actually go out and get those gifts?). Luckily, all stores realize procrastination is king and keep their heart-shaped gifts and candies on shelves up to and even a few days after the big day.

No matter if you’re still searching, have no idea what you’ll be getting your significant other, or only need one more small thing, we’ve got a few ideas (both classic and novel) to help you in your search for the perfect gift(s).

Stuffed animal.
Alright, I’ll admit that this was more of a thing when I was in high school and early college. But perhaps some of you are at that stage and it seems appropriate or “cute.” But even if you’re older than that, it can still be a sweet little bear or something to commemorate the days of youthhood. Just don’t overdo it and get something huge. That’s where it become tacky and “extra.”

Candy boxes.
Ahhh, the old box of chocolate. The thing is, while chocolate boxes are a staple to V-Day, they’re also a classic item that may seem cliche or expected. Luckily, a lot of stores have branched out in their collection of candy boxes and offer off-the-wall candies, treats, truffles, and more. Perhaps try for an organic or artisan box of candy this year to switch it up and show you’re one step ahead of other Valentines.

Dinner.
You can’t skip a Valentine’s Day dinner, no matter where you’re at in your relationship. All it takes is a little bit of planning, likely a reservation to a slightly nicer restaurant, and dressing decently and you’ll be on your way to a great and romantic evening.

The alternative, of course, is hosting your own dinner and doing all the prep to surprise your loved one. This can be a bit more taxing and tiresome, but if done right, it can show you care much more than simply taking them to a restaurant.
